10 places to propose in Australia

Elle-Rose shares the top places to propose in Australia.

There is no country with more variety and more romantic locations than Australia. You’re bound to be inspired by the beauty, and there’s no better time to pop the question than when you’re surrounded by incredible landscapes of Australia. Need a little more convincing? We’ve lined up ten of the most romantic places to propose in Australia.

New Year’s Eve on Sydney Harbour, New South Wales

When the clock strikes midnight and the fireworks launch off the Sydney Harbour Bridge you’ll be inspired by the atmosphere and the energy. This is an amazing opportunity to get down on one knee and propose – and what a perfect start to the New Year.

Hot-air ballooning in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales

Hot-air ballooning is, for many of us, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With the romantic setting already in place (extra points if you time it at sunset) all you need to do is get down on one knee. You could even surprise your other half with a champagne reception when you touch back down.

Sunrise at Uluru, Northern Territory

Drag your other half out of bed to watch the sunrise over this magnificent landmark. You’ll both be in awe by the time the sun has risen – and this is when you can whip out the ring and make the day even more memorable. If you aren’t a morning person opt for sunset instead. It’ll be just as incredible.

Hayman Island, Queensland

The tropical paradise of Hayman Island is just off the coast of Queensland, and offers a wonderful simplicity and beauty unlike anywhere else. You could pop the question over a beachside picnic, or perhaps over cocktails as you watch the waves crashing on the beach.

Cottage Point Inn, New South Wales

This one requires a little planning. To begin your romantic experience you’ll need to book a seaplane from Rose Bay to Cottage Point Inn. It would be incredibly romantic to propose whilst in the air on your seaplane – or you could pop the question in the restaurant itself.

Ashcombe Maze, Victoria

There have been many proposals here already with some people hiding clues for their partners to find in the maze. This one also takes a bit of planning, but the results could be hugely rewarding. You could book the maze out during one evening and find your way to a candle-lit meal in the middle (hidden away for only you to find).

Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia

This gorgeous underwater paradise is romantic beyond belief. There are so many opportunities to pop the big question here – because around every corner is another beautiful, amazing sight to see. Our favourite idea is do an underwater proposal whilst you’re scuba diving. It’s something you’d definitely never forget.
