Definitely on a friends property locally on the Wakool river. With two kids under three, the holiday is definitely NOT about the journey, it is about the destination. So, we go close, and can have more fun relaxed family time together rather than frustrated in the car time :)

Without a doubt, Lightening Ridge NSW. A booming opal town in its era & well worth the visit to one of Australias gems. The most memorable part for our family was sitting back around the campfire at Lorne Station watching the blanket of stars above with our 3 boys. The twinkling night sky seemed endless, something you’ll never see in the city. Lightening Ridge is at the top of our list for Favourite Camping spots. Regards Janine Homer :)

So many to choose from but we do love Cobb & Co Nine Mile Creek Camp Ground which is a few k’s from Gympie, QLD. It is great for families, has it’s own billabong and you can have a campfire there and it is not to far from Woondum National Park where there are swimming holes, walking trails and 4WD tracks.

Our family think Myall Lakes National Park is the best place to go camping. Its not expensive, you have an amazing lake a few meters from the camp site, it has fantastic sand dunes to climb up & surf down, it has an amazing beach close by, some wonderful walking tracks & after a fantastic day of exploring some of the wonderful things Myall Lakes has to offer, you can sit by a camp fire & roast marshmellows & meet other campers. Its a magical place!

We LOVE Lake Eildon in Victoria, just near Gough’s Bay around the ‘other side’ of the lake. There are a few toilets but essentially you are by yourself on the edge of the lake, BEAUTIFUL weather, great water temp and HEAPS of activities to do when you’re there (that is if you want to do anything at all!).

Augusta – south west corner of WA, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The Blackwood River also runs past town out to Flinders Bay. The best spot to be during the summer as it nearly always has a sea breeze. There is plenty to do either at one of many beaches or on the river.
